   Adobe Photoshop v5.5 Win W/ Imageready v2.0

Rollovers
Design interactive JavaScript rollover effects in Adobe ImageReady without writing a line of code. Just slice an image, and associate rollover behaviors with different slices. For example, make a specific area of an image change when you click, press down on, or roll over that area with your mouse. Even create secondary rollovers where a mouse action in one place causes a change in another part of the image. ImageReady automatically detects the change and generates the secondary rollover for you. After creating rollovers, continue round-tripping files to Adobe Photoshop and back without a hitch.

Image Slicing
Divide an image with the new Slice tool in Adobe ImageReady 2.0. Then assign URL links, ALT tags, and different compression settings to each user slice. For example, apply JPEG compression to a photographic area and GIF compression to text and solid colors. ImageReady adds auto-slices when it produces the HTML table that reassembles the image. You can instantly update the HTML code for a sliced image if you edit the original image later - even if you've copied that code into a more complex HTML file. ImageReady embeds comments at the beginning and end of its HTML code, so it can automatically identify and replace that code.

Web Optimization
Adobe Photoshop 5.5 includes comprehensive optimization features for producing the highest quality Web graphics with the smallest possible file sizes. To precisely balance image quality and file size, compare an original image side by side with optimized versions. Work in 2-up or 4-up view, using the LiveView panels in Photoshop or Adobe ImageReady. Then fine-tune the GIF, JPEG, PNG-8, or PNG-24 compression settings, and compare quality, file size, and download time. Even produce GIF files as much as 10 to 50 percent smaller than previously possible using the revolutionary new Lossy GIF feature.

Animation
Produce eye-catching animated GIF files with the smallest possible file sizes. To create an animation, simply open a multilayered file from Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Illustrator, and then create new frames or edit layers in Adobe ImageReady. Each layer is a separate object in the animation. Changes you make to layers - such as hiding, showing, or moving them, or applying opacity and special effects - occur in each frame, while changes to actual pixels affect all subsequent frames. Preview and set playback options for your animation with the Animation palette. Use the Tween feature to create smooth transitions automatically.

Precise Masking
Add transparency to images more intuitively with the new Magic Eraser and Background Eraser tools. Use the Magic Eraser to erase similar pixels on a layer with the click of your mouse. Drag the Background Eraser across an image to dynamically erase pixels on a layer, creating transparency. More accurately mask foreground images that have intricate, wispy, or hard- to-define edges by using the Extract Image command. Both the Background Eraser and the Extract Image command "decontaminate" the remaining edge pixels, removing the tint of background color and making them partially transparent. You can then composite these masked foreground images against new backgrounds without getting distracting halos.

Art History Brush
Paint stylized strokes on an image, much as you would brush paint onto a canvas, with the new Art History brush. Don't worry about specifying colors or applying careful strokes - simply move the Art History brush around on the image, interactively creating realistic paint strokes. Then fine-tune the look you're creating by adjusting the size, fidelity, tolerance, and paint style controls. This versatile new brush opens a world of creative possibilities for your Adobe Photoshop artwork. Contact Sheets
Adobe Photoshop 5.5 automates the creation of contact sheets, saving you the time of creating them by hand. Turn a folder of images into contact sheets with captions. Arrange a single image multiple times, and in multiple sizes, as a picture package on a single page - much like those sold by traditional portrait studios. Even export Web galleries that include image thumbnails on an index page and navigable links to individual images on separate Web pages. Together these new automation features streamline how you present and share images with colleagues and clients.

History Palette
When you're designing an image, you need the freedom to experiment without worrying that you'll go too far. In Adobe Photoshop, the History palette liberates you, letting you undo and redo multiple editing steps instantly. The History palette tracks and displays a complete list of recent editing steps. You can review and move among these different stages by clicking anywhere in the list. You can save snapshots of an image to quickly compare different stages, and you can paint the contents of a previous editing stage onto the current image with the History brush.

Layer Effects

Adobe Photoshop and Adobe ImageReady both support layer effects, so you can quickly add drop shadows, inner and outer glows, bevels, and embossing to layers. When applied, these effects remain live, so they update automatically when you edit the layer. New layer effects include solid-color fills in both programs, as well as pattern and gradient fills in ImageReady. ImageReady even lets you save customized versions of layer effects as styles for instant application any time. Use layer effects to create eye- catching text that's still editable or to design appealing rollovers, such as buttons that encourage interaction.
